Four Israeli soldiers were wounded today when Syrian forces re-opened artillery fire on the northern front after several days of relative quiet. The Syrian guns went into action early this afternoon against Israeli positions in the Mazraat Bet Jan and Harfa village areas. Israeli forces returned the fire. The exchange lasted 90 minutes. Israeli military circles confirmed that Israel used 175 mm. long-range artillery to return Syrian fire last week. The big guns have sufficient range to reach the outskirts of Damascus. The circles said that Israeli gunners scored hits on Syrian artillery batteries and on ammunition dumps.
