Four bills for the repeal of the national origins clause were introduced in the House yesterday by Congressmen McCormack of Boston. Sabath of Chicago, Selvig of Minnesota and Douglas of Massachusetts. Congressman McCormack also introduced a bill to postpone the clause for another year from June 30,1929, to June 30, 1930.

Congressman O’Connell of New York introduced a bill to exempt from the quota nuns, deaconesses and sisters of any religious denomination or order.

The question of excluding aliens when estimating the apportionment of representatives in Congress of the various states may become an issue at the present special session. A bill for such exclusion was introduced in the House by Congressman Stalker of New York. A similar bill was introduced last season but Congress did not act upon it prior to adjournment. Should this legislation be adopted the representation in Congress of communities having large alien population would be materially reduced.
