Representatives of the Jewish Community Relations Council today conferred with police authorities here on the arrest of four youths on charges of assault and battery. A fifth one admitted in court yesterday that he had taken part in attacks on Jewish boys in the West Philadelphia area and was ordered held for psychiatric examination.
The judge indicated that he will send the 17-year-old youth to a reform school if he is found mentally sound. Crime Prevention Bureau detectives said that 10 Jewish boys have been attacked on the streets since last November. The detectives said that sometimes two and at most three victims were attacked at one time and that anti-Semitic remarks were part of each attack. One of the victims took down the license number of his assailants’ car, which led to the arrest of five suspects.
