An investigation into the anti-Semitic propaganda being distributed by ex-Congressman Louis T. McFadden through the United States mails from the Mayflower Hotel here will be started by Postmaster General James M. Farley, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned here today on good authority.
Mr. McFadden, who has announced that he will run for President of the United States in the 1936 Presidential campaign, has been sending out thousands of circulars featuring Jew-baiting propaganda which he intends to utilize in his election campaign. He is the first person ever to announce his candidacy for President of the United States on an outspokenly anti-Semitic platform.
HOTEL DENIES PRESENCE
The administration of the Mayflower Hotel here continues to deny that McFadden’s office is located in the hotel. The propaganda which the national headquarters of McFadden’s campaign office has sent out includes, however, an “honor roll pledge card” which persons who wish to support McFadden’s candidacy are asked to sign and to mail to the Mayflower Hotel.
The propaganda from McFadden’s headquarters sent out as first class mail in envelopes which do not bear a return address. The printed material in these envelopes, however, advises recipients to communicate for further instructions with the national offices in Washington and state definitely that these offices are located in the Mayflower.
