Dr. Simon Sonkin, a prominent Jewish physicist, died here yesterday at the age of 64. He was professor of physics at Stanford University, and former chairman of the physics department at City College, New York, where he taught for 35 years. Born in New York, Prof. Sonkin also taught at Columbia University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His pupils included Robert Hostetter, a Nobel prize winner in physics.
