Dr. Hans Klee, a member of the General Council of the OSE in Geneva and a leading member of the Jewish community of Switzerland, arrived here today. He will remain in the United States for several days prior to proceeding to Australia and New Zealand on an OSE mission.
At a luncheon tendered in his honor by the executive of the American OSE at the Hotel Olcott, Dr. Klee declared that two principal tasks facing the Jewish health and child-care society at the present are: its program in North Africa and its activities in Israel. He amphasized that the OSE programs in Europe–particularly in France and Italy–remain an important part of the organization’s work.
Dr. Klee reviewed the present efforts of the OSE in providing health care for the newly-arriving immigrants in Israel, particularly the children. He recently visited the Scandinavian countries and the Netherlands where, he pointed out, OSE committees made up of Jews and non-Jews are continuing to provide financial aid to the OSE. He will seek to secure from Jewish and non-Jewish overseas aid agencies in Australia and New Zealand the same type of aid made available to the OSE in various other parts of the world.
