The emergence of the State of Israel has restored emotional self-confidence among Jews everywhere, Dr. Louis Finkelstein, chancellor of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, said today at the first session of the newly-established Seminary Israel Institute — a joint project of the Jewish Agency and the Jewish Theological Seminary.

“That is why men who go to Israel, indifferent or even hostile to Zionism, come back its foremost devotees,” Dr. Finkelstein continued. “The people of Israel have performed a miracle before our eyes; that which we tried to inoculate in our children through the tales of the Scriptures has been brought home to them day by day in newspaper headlines.” Dr. Hayim Greenberg, member of the Jewish Agency executive, presided at the meeting.
