Director Steven Spielberg will receive Germany’s Cross of the Order of Merit for “Schindler’s List.” The honor recognizes the 1993 film’s powerful effect in generating a broader understanding of the Holocaust. President Roman Herzog is expected to present the award to the director in a Sept. 10 ceremony in Berlin.
