A three-day music festival, arranged under the auspices of the London “Jewish Chronicle” to encourage the development of specific Jewish music, was concluded here today.
A contest for the best Jewish composition was arranged in connection with the festival. Four hundred contestants aged from six to sixty, participated. A prize of one hundred guineas was offered for the best orchestral composition. Sir Frederick Cowen and Stanley Roper will be the judges. The establishment of a Jewish musical society for the promotion of Jewish music is being planned.
