The Communists no longer content with mere agitation for the conversion of synagogues into workingmen’s clubs have confiscated synagogues at Charkov, Homel, Bobruisk and Minsk. The synagogues have been transformed into clubs.

A committee has been formed whose program calls for the eventual transformation of every Jewish house of worship into a club house.

The “Emes”, organ of the Jewish Communists, is urging strenuously the immediate confiscation and conversion of the large Moscow synagogue, which Communists term “the last stronghold of the Jewish bourgeoise” into a club house, but in view of the opposition of Leo Kameneff, the synagogue is not thought to be in immediate danger.

A special meeting of the Committee on conversion of synagogues is expected to take up the matter in the near future.
