A two-day Canadian Planning Conference for Israel opened here last night to prepare plans for the sale of Israel Development Bonds during the remainder of the year. Some 500 men and women, leaders of Jewish communities throughout the Dominion, are participating.
The conference heard reports on progress thus far in the year in various communities and pledged all-out cooperation to the drive. Among the speakers at the parley were Michael S. Comay, Israel Ambassador at Ottawa; Sen. Wayne Morse of Oregon; David Horowitz, governor of the new Israel State Bank; Samuel Bronfman, national co-chairman of the State of Israel Bond Drive in Canada; and, Edward E. Gelber, national president of the Zionist Organization of Canada.
