“Mr. Byroade’s gratuitous statement on Israel’s immigration policy strikes at the very heart of the reason which has led to the support of Israel by both the United States and the United Nations both prior to and during the establishment of the state. To urge that Israel withdraw from its immigration policy is to deny the very reason for its existence, ” Rep. Celler stated.
