A mass religious freedom rally in observance of the eight-day festival period of Chanukah will be held at the Philadelphia Academy of Music on Sunday evening under the auspices of the national Americanism Commission of B’nai B’rith.
Five thousand people, including B’nai B’rith delegations from cities all along the entire Eastern seaboard who are planning pilgrimages to Philadelphia to participate in the exercises, are expected to attend the rally, which is being held in connection with the observance of the 150th anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights.
Governor Paul V. McNutt, Federal Security Administrator and coordinator of all health and welfare activities affecting the national defense, will make the principal address, which will be broadcast over Station WIP and the coast-to-coast network of the Mutual Broadcasting System from 10:15 to 10:30 P.M., Eastern Standard Time. Henry Monsky, president of B’nai B’rith, will also speak and will introduce Governor McNutt to the radio audience.
