Blum Knew He Would Be Arrested but Chose to Remain

Former Premier Leon Blum of France knew he would be arrested when the Petain-Laval government came to power, but refused to flee, preferring to remain and face his accusers, according to Louis de Brouckere, Belgian Socialist leader, who met Blum after the fall of France.
