Funeral services were held today for Avraham Drori, a member of the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, representing the Herut Party, secretary-general of the Herut movement and a hero of Israel’s war of liberation. He died here Tuesday, at the age of 45.
Born in Poland, Mr. Drori came to Palestine in 1935 and, after working in agricultural settlements, joined Irgun Zvai Leumi, the underground terrorist organization. He rose to the post of commander of Irgun’s principal training base during the period of the British Mandate, and later distinguished himself as a company commander during the War of Independence. He was a journalist and author of several books and pamphlets on education and training camp activities.
