At least 16 paintings possibly plundered from Jewish families by the Nazis are hanging in museums and homes in the United States, according to an Austrian collector. The remarks by Dr.Rudolf Leopold are an apparent attempt to prevent his collection from being singled out after the Manhattan district attorney recently prevented the Museum of Modern Art from returning to Austria two paintings that two Jewish families claimed were plundered.
