Only 2.57 per cent of the Palestine Arab population and 14.71per cent of the Jews are eligible to vote in municipal elections, it was declared by J.H. Thomas, Colonial Secretary, in reply to a query by Mr. Creech-Jones in the House of Commons.

He said the number of persons entitled to vote under the Municipal Corporations Ordinance of 1934 was considerably larger than in 1927. The comparative totals of the more important electorates were given as: 1927 1934 Jerusalem….. 3,276 8,802
