AN ARAB POLICEMAN WAS SHOT DEAD IN BEISAN THIS MORNING, ASSERTEDLY BY ARAB TERRORISTS. TWO MEMBERS OF AN ARMED ARAB BAND WERE WOUNDED AND CAPTURED AFTER AN ENGAGEMENT WITH POLICE AT THE ARAB VILLAGE OF MAJDAL.
SEVERAL MORE ARAB LEADERS WERE ARRESTED ON CHARGES OF AGITATION. TEN ALL TOLD, INCLUDING SEVERAL WHO WERE MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE WHICH DIRECTED THE ARAB GENERAL STRIKE LAST YEAR, HAVE BEEN EXILED TO ACRE IN THE PAST FEW DAYS.
THE AUTHORITIES TODAY ORDERED THE DISKIN ORPHANAGE TO VACATE FORTY ROOMS BY SEPTEMBER 1 TO HOUSE MILITARY REINFORCEMENTS.
