Funeral services were held here this weekend for Ami Assaf, Deputy Minister of Education, and a leader of the Mapai moshav movement, who died Friday at the age of 61. He was stricken with a heart attack and rushed to Beilinson hospital just a few hours after he addressed a meeting of the Mapai Council. A member of the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, since 1949, he served as Deputy Education Minister for the past five years.
