The New York Times, in a Berlin dispatch today, said that former President Herbert Hoover was reported to have told Chancellor Hitler during a conversation that the American people could not tolerate the National Socialist principles of government in their own country.
According to the United Press, German official circles and Mr. Hoover’s party denied that the conversation reached the state of “denunciation” of Nazism by Mr. Hoover, as reported by some services.
