The 1951 Allied Jewish Campaign, which is expected raise more than $6,000,000, opened here on Tuesday evening with a dinner in the ###k Cadillac Hotel at which a record total of $1,610,000 was raised in advance gifts.
The principal speaker at the dinner was William O. Douglas, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court who reported on his visit to Israel. He said that Israel is an example of a democratic society where tolerance and understanding flour-###. “Ben Gurion and Weizmann are public servants who would do honor to any country,” declared.
