American Jews were told today by Israel Ambassador Abba Eban that they “may take comfort from the fact” that their objectives in aiding the economic consolidation of Israel “have now become the official policy of the Government of the United States.”

Mr. Eban spoke at a dinner in his honor given by the Mizrachi Organization of America in the interests of the Israel bond drive. “Israel’s progress towards agricultural self-sufficiency and the versatile range of its industrial development carry a clear assurance of economic stability after a brief transition period,” he stated. He added that the entire economic problem confronting Israel could be summarized in the one word, productivity.
