A spokesman for the Islamic militant group Hamas said Tuesday the group would participate in elections if a Palestinian state is established. The comments came at a meeting of the Palestinian Central Council, where Hamas spiritual leader Sheik Ahmed Yassin said the Palestinians should walk away from the Oslo peace process.
