A right-wing Israeli legislator proposed that Israel transfer to the Palestinians an area in northern Israel that is mainly populated by Israeli Arabs, in exchange for Jewish settlements in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Other hawkish legislators distanced themselves from the proposal made by Zvi Hendel, a member of the National Unity Party.
