A Palestinian military court in the Gaza Strip sentenced to death in absentia two Palestinians for their involvement in the 1996 killing of Hamas master bomb-maker Yehiya Ayash, who was killed when a booby-trapped cellular phone exploded. One of the Palestinians sentenced was accused of handing Ayash the phone. Palestinians claim the two fled to Israel immediately after Ayash was killed.
