A Jewish group blasted a State Department official who said Israel has “done too little for far too long” to foster peace. At a Dec. 11 meeting in Rome with European nations helping to finance the Palestinian Authority, David Satterfield slammed alleged Israeli inaction in promoting peace talks. The Orthodox Union said it was disappointed by the comments, adding that blame for Israeli-Palestinian violence should be placed on the Palestinian Authority and its president, Yasser Arafat.
