The 75th anniversary of Temple Emanuel here, founded by Jewish settlers in this community following the gold rush period of the 1850’s and 1860’s, was marked here today. An announcement from the Temple said that in “1859 the first Jewish services in what was yet to be the state of Colorado were held by the men who braved the rigors of unblazed trails and hostile Indian country to open a new territory.” Temple Emanuel is now the oldest and largest synagogue between Kansas City and the West Coast.
