1,911 Jews Entered Palestine in First Quarter

A total of 765 Jewish immigrants entered Palestine in March as against 4,355 in the same month of 1939, it was officially disclosed today. The figure includes tourists who later registered as immigrants.

Jewish immigration in the first three months of 1940 totalled 1,911. The figure for the same period in 1939 was 7,788. About 40 per cent of the 1,911 immigrants came under the category of capitalists, in which possession of $5,000 is required for admission. Of the 1,911 immigrants, 129 came from England, 510 were originally from Germany and Austria, 389 from Czechoslovakia and 153 from Poland.
