A total of 157,693 Jews entered Canada during the period 1900-1951, according to the annual report of the Department of Citizenship and Immigration. The banner period for Jewish immigration were the years 1913-1914 when 11, 252 Jews entered the country, the majority of them managing to escape from their native lands before the outbreak of World War L About 6, 000 Jewish immigrants entered in 1951.

The official figures reveal a considerable increase in the number of German immigrants arriving in Canada. The number of Germans admitted to Canada as immigrants in the 11-month period of 1951 was 27, 844. In the corresponding period of 1950, only 4, 900 German immigrants came to Canada.
