All outpatient and other hospital services at the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center here, except for emergency facilities, were affected by a slow-down today, as 1,400 medical and clerical employees of the institution staged an action, warning of a possible, full strike in a dispute with the Center’s management over wages. Physicians, however, did not participate in the slow-down.
The action, scheduled for one day only, resulted from a demand by the employees that their job grading be improved. The Center’s management claimed the employees had cancelled an agreement for equalizing their salaries with those paid to workers employed by the Histadrut Sick Fund. The slow-down participants, however, insisted that the management accept a ruling by the Ministry of Labor, on this issue.
The Ministry had offered to mediate the dispute. The clerical and medical workers warned that, unless the Ministry’s mediation were accepted, they would extend their slow-down to a full strike.
