Thirteen of 30 merchant seamen on trial in Haifa on charges of assaulting policemen during the merchant seamen’s strike, were acquitted yesterday because of lack of evidence against them. They were arrested following a riot which broke out when strikers attempted to board the freighter Tel Aviv to prevent removal of the crew by the police. The trial of the remaining defendants is continuing.
