Eleven Protestant churches which were in existence in New York when Congregation B’nai Jeshurun was organized 125 years ago today had representatives in the B’nai Jeshurun Synagogue at its traditional Thanksgiving Day services.
During the services the National Conference of Christians and Jews conferred a commendation on the synagogue and its spiritual leader, Dr. Israel Goldstein, in recognition of the contributions of both the congregation and Dr. Goldstein to the cause of worldwide inter-racial unity. Federal Security Administrator Oscar R. Ewing came from Washington to deliver an address from the pulpit today.
