JERUSALEM (JTA) — The tires of 40 cars and trucks were slashed and a hateful message was spray-painted on a wall in a Christian village near Safed.

The vandalism — the second attack in one week apparently aimed at Christians — was discovered Thursday morning in Jish. The Israeli media called the attack a “price tag” incident.

The message spray-painted on the wall read “Only goyim (non-Jews) should be evacuated from our land.”

“We are dealing with outlaws and will do everything to bring them to justice,” Safed Police Chief Superintendent Yoram Azulay told Ynet. “This is an exceptional and serious event.”

Most of the northern Israeli village’s 3,000 residents are Maronite-Christians, though about one-third are Muslims, according to Ynet.

Price tag refers to the strategy adopted by extremist settlers and their supporters generally to exact retribution for settlement freezes and demolitions or Palestinian attacks on Jews.

On Tuesday morning, a Catholic monastery near Beit Shemesh in central Israel was vandalized with anti-American and anti-Christian epithets.
