NEW YORK (JTA) — One of the three campers struck by lightning at a Jewish camp near Indianapolis was released from the hospital, according to the camp director.
Rabbi Mark Covitz, director of the Goldman Union Camp Institute in Zionsville, Ind., on Monday blogged an update on the campers injured two days earlier.
“All of our campers know that three campers were sent to the hospital as a result of the incident, and that one of them, a camper from Cabin 12, has been released and has gone home with his family,” Covitz wrote on the Union for Reform Judaism website.
One of the campers was in critical condition, according to newspaper reports.
The camp will not release the names or details on the conditions of the wounded children, identified as a 9-year-old girl from Missouri, a 9-year-old boy from Kentucky and a 12-year-old boy from Ohio.
It did release the names of their synagogues: Shaare Emeth, in St Louis, Mo.; the Rockdale Temple in Cincinnati, Ohio; and The Temple in Louisville, Ky.
