Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) announced yesterday that she would not run for Congress again. (We noted earlier how her departure may halve the number of members of Congress who have toiled in Israeli fields.)
Garance Franke-Ruta at the Atlantic has a nifty analysis of the nine-minute speech in which Bachmann assures her followers that no, this has nothing to do with her incredibly close election call last November or expanding inquiries into how her 2012 presidential bid was run.
Much of the video is also a list of what Bachmann depicts as her accomplishments — keeping America on guard against the jihadist threat, protesting Internal Revenue Service intrusiveness, and attending Margaret Thatcher’s funeral, among others.
She also gives mention to her criticisms of Obama’s Israel policies:
I pointed out this administration’s despicable treatment toward our great friend and ally Israel, and at the same time giving little more than lip service to the ever increasing and dangerous nuclear threat of Iran.
