SYDNEY (JTA) – An Australian man who sexually assaulted a Holocaust survivor was sentenced to up to five years in prison.

Robert Webb, 39, was sentenced to a minimum of three years in jail for the 1991 attack. Arrested and charged in 2011, Webb could be released within a year given time served, according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald.

The victim, who was 71 at the time of the attack, has since died. Webb, then 18, attacked her in a parking lot in Sydney. He ordered the victim into the back seat of her car, where the assault took place.

Police reopened the cold case in 2011 after identifying Webb as a suspect through DNA testing of a semen stain they found on the ground in the car park.

“The victim’s ordeal must have been terrifying,” Judge Ian McClintock said. “And the conduct of the offender was calculated to humiliate her.”
