Superbowl Sunday is just around the corner, and unless you are in the northeast, you probably don’t care that much about New York and Boston sports rivalries. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t watch everything around it — Kelly Clarkson will try not to pull a Christina and mess up the anthem, Madonna is doing the halftime show, and of course the commercials, which are pretty much the most important things to follow.
This year, one of the most buzzed commercials prior to the big game involves Ferris Bueller — by which I mean Matthew Broderick, who finally gave up on trying to do anything else that would top the 1986masterpiece.
Broderick, now 49 and married to Sarah Jessica Parker, recited the legendary quote from the movie, “How can I handle work on a day like today?”, with the Ferris Bueller theme song playing in the background.
A Ferris sequel?!? Nope, just a Honda commercial. Those car commercials are trying really hard to compete with the beer ones. How manly. Can Ferris beat last year’s popular Darth Vader kid of Volkswagen? It may be more interesting than watching Eli Manning take on Tom Brady.
