The romance between fashion designer Marc Jacobs and “South Park” just reached a new high today when Jacobs officially released a series of three special t-shirts featuring naked characters of the popular animated show as part of his Protect the Skin You’re In campaign. The three characters chosen to appear on the t-shirts are Eric Cartman, Randy Marsh (Stan’s dad) and Butters.
In November, Marc Jacobs was featured in the episode “1%” as Muscle Man Marc, one of Eric Cartman’s toys. Apparently Jacobs, a huge “South Park” fan, was absolutely ecstatic and told New York Magazine: “It is the greatest honor, I mean, way above and beyond the lifetime achievement award, beyond anything. To be immortalized on South Park, I can die a happy man.”
Jacobs also complimented the creators of the show, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, saying that they are “just probably the two most brilliant people in the entire world, and it is definitely my favourite program on TV, I have two of Cartman’s toys tattooed, one on each forearm – Clyde Frog and the other one is Rumpletumskin.”
The campaign benefits the Interdisciplinary Melanoma Cooperative Group at New York University, and along with the “South Park” characters, it also features celebrities such as Victoria Beckham and Naomi Campbell. The t-shirts cost $35 on Jacobs’ site.
