It’s Earth Day, that special time every year when Google changes it’s logo to something naturey looking and we feel vaguely guilty about not bringing our own reusable cups to Starbucks.
Seriously though, in honor of the occasion we’d like to give a shout out to who we think is the Jewish World’s most eco-friendly star: Natalie Portman.
The Israeli-born actress is a dedicated vegan (okay, so she indulged in some eggs and dairy while pregnant with Aleph, but give the girl a break) who will not wear anything made of fur or leather. She has even designed her own vegan shoe line.
Portman raised awareness about the plight of endangered mountain gorillas, traveling to Rwanda to film the 2007 documentary Gorillas on the Brink. She is also involved with Global Green USA, an organization committed to getting people to see the importance of a sustainable future.
Happy Earth Day, and thanks for representing Natalie!
