To the Editor:
Contrary to Ruth Ellen Gruber’s article, the San Nicandro Jews are not the “only case of collective conversion to Judaism in modern times.” A group in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, converted to Judaism en masse in 2002. I was part of a group from Congregation B’nai Jeshurun in New York who visited with them just weeks before all the men were to undergo brit milah.
