To the Editor:
The King hearings are reminiscent of the late and mostly unlamented Joe McCarthy, who ignored the real threat of communism — from abroad — and concentrated on Americans, who may or may not have been members of the Communist Party in the United States, which was a legitimate and legal organization.
Rep. Peter King says he is worried about devout mosgue-going American Muslims but is ignoring the real threats from abroad. Ahmadinejad doesn’t raise King’s ire, nor do white racists and anti-Semites in the United States.
Remember that before alcoholism finally killed McCarthy at an early age, he caused untold harm to the real fight against foreign enemies.
