To the Editor:
When Fred Malek was ejected from leadership on George H.W. Bush’s campaign in 1988, he was apologetic. However, he only acknowledged his actions that had been revealed to that point, not his full participation in Nixon’s ethnic cleansing at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. He minimized his guilt.
It wasn’t until the Nixon tapes were released in the last couple of years that the full and enthusiastic extent of his participation in the purge was revealed. If he truly felt as bad about it as he claimed, he would have come clean decades ago.
