FINAL SCORE: Beren Academy hoopsters fall to Abilene Christian in Texas state championship game by a score of 46-42.
This is it, folks.
Tonight, four days before we read megillah, the Orthodox Jewish hoopsters of Beren Academy are playing for "the whole megillah" after a 58-46 victory on Friday propelled them into the 2A private and parochial boys basketball state championship game (for schools with enrollments between 55 and 120 students). Tonight Beren faces against Abilene Christian for the title. Both matchups were made possible as a result of legal action that was taken to move the game from the Jewish Sabbath.
That’s the good news.
On the downside, the company that provided live video of the semi-final game is cashing in on the hype, offering tonight’s finale as a pay-per-view event. We’ve embedded the PPV link below. UPDATE: Looks like there is the broadcast is now free.
