JOB DESCRIPTION: News Editor
SUMMARY: JTA, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, is seeking a news editor to plan, coordinate and edit JTA feature stories and breaking news coverage, including managing correspondents. The ideal candidate will have extensive journalistic experience and keen editorial judgment; familiarity with the broad range of Jewish communal issues; editing and reporting experience; the ability to work quickly and juggle multiple deadlines; creative talent; and the flexibility to be a team player. This is a full-time position located in NYC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Assigning stories to and fielding story pitches from correspondents around the world
• Working with correspondents to shape stories
• Editing stories and breaking news
• Assisting with production of email product(s)
• Work with editorial staff on strategic planning, developing new content ideas and setting team priorities
• Other editorial duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
• Deep familiarity with news issues of Jewish interest and concern around the globe
• Strong editing skills
• Ability to work quickly and juggle multiple deadlines

EXPERIENCE
• 5+ years journalistic experience
• Bachelor’s degree required

JOB DESCRIPTION: NY Reporter
SUMMARY
JTA, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, is seeking a full-time reporter to write news and feature stories in New York about issues of Jewish interest and concern. The ideal candidate will have journalistic experience, familiarity with American Jewish issues; the skills to master a particular beat or beats, excellent reporting and writing abilities; and the ability to work quickly and meet deadlines. This position is based in NYC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Beat reporting, including uncovering scoops on your beats
• Identifying and developing relationships with sources
• Identifying and developing engaging stories
• Writing news and feature stories
• Covering breaking news stories
• Other duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
• Familiarity with American Jewish issues
• Excellent reporting and writing skills
• Ability to work quickly and on deadline
• An ability to ferret out good stories

JOB DESCRIPTION: Foreign Correspondent
SUMMARY: JTA, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, is seeking a full-time foreign correspondent to cover news and feature stories of Jewish interest and concern around the world (excluding the US and Israel). Extensive travel required. The ideal candidate will have several years of journalistic experience, familiarity with global Jewish issues; an understanding of the interests of U.S. Jewish readers, excellent reporting and writing abilities, the ability to work quickly and meet deadlines. This person will be based overseas for the majority of the year, possibly in multiple locations (with stints of several weeks or months in each place).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Developing story ideas for news and features in Europe, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and other parts of the world (excluding US and Israel)
• Traveling around the world covering breaking news
• Assisting editors and other reporters with foreign components to stories
• Writing news and feature stories
• Blogging
• Other duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
• Familiarity with global Jewish issues and American Jewish readers
• Excellent reporting and writing skills
• Ability to work quickly, under pressure and on deadline
• Ability to work in a self-directed environment with minimal supervision
• Keen eye for good stories, wherever they may be
• Foreign language skills a plus

4+ years journalistic experience

SUMMARY: JTA, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, is seeking an Israel correspondent to write news and feature stories from Israel. The ideal candidate will have journalistic experience, good sources in Israel, familiarity with Israeli and Diaspora Jewish issues; the ability to work quickly; fluency in Hebrew and excellent English writing abilities. This position is based in Israel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Investigating and covering breaking news stories
• Writing diplomatic analysis pieces
• Developing news and feature story ideas
• Writing feature stories
• Evaluating story leads and tips
• Assisting editorial staff in NY with Israel-based reporting
• Other duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
• Deep familiarity with Israel and of Diaspora Jewish issues
• Excellent English writing skills
• Ability to work quickly and on deadline
• An eye for good stories, without regard to location
• Fluent in Hebrew
EXPERIENCE
• 3+ years journalistic experience
• Bachelor’s degree required
COMPENSATION
