• Dan Shapiro, President Obama’s Middle East adviser, was nominated to be the next U.S. ambassador to Israel.
• Shai Franklin, policy director at the American Council for World Jewry, left to become executive directord at the Sephardic Community Federation, the political arm of the Syrian community.
• Eli Cohen, director-general of the Jewish Agency’s Aliyah Department, resigned.
• Daniel Schwammenthal, an editorial page writer and Op-Ed editor for The Wall Street Journal-Europe, was appointed as the director of the American Jewish Committee’s Transatlantic Institute, in Brussels.
• Linda Slucker of West Orange, N.J. was elected as the new president of the National Council of Jewish Women at the organization’s 45th national convention, in Dallas, Texas.
• Amanda Esraelian, 17, of Roslyn, N.Y., became the teen president of NCSY International, the Orthodox Union’s youth movement.
