* Agudath Israel of America is one of three groups (the other two or the Orthodox Union and the Jewish Federations of North America) that lobby hard for homeland security funds for added security at non-profits.
On Nov. 7 in New York, Aguda hosts its "second annual legislative breakfast" and the theme is "safety and security in our communities," it says in a release.
Speakers include Jarrod Bernstein, the White House’s Jewish outreach director. It’s Bernstein’s first gig since taking over from Danielle Borrin. From the release:
"The fact that the President of the United States is sending his Director of Jewish Outreach to the Agudath Israel breakfast as his first public appearance underscores the high priority the Administration is placing on reaching out to our community," said Rabbi Gedaliah Weinberger, chairman of Agudath Israel’s board of trustees.
