Michael Scheuer and that old saw about “my enemy’s enemy”

Michael Scheuer, the former CIA analyst who last graced this blog with his obsessions about "Israel firsters" is stirring liberal blog outrage with his cartoonish defense of torture. (Richard Silverstein has a brilliant point-by-point takedown here.)

MJ Rosenberg makes this a learning moment: Just because Scheuer is scathing about AIPAC and other bugbears shared by dovish pro-Israel groups and others who are skeptical of traditional pieties about the U.S.-Israel alliance of doesn’t mean he should be embraced.

As in, sometimes "the enemy of my enemy" is just a putz.

Or as MJ put it:

The more I read the guy I see that he just doesn’t like Jews, Arabs, liberals or foreigners in general. He is a charmless David Duke. (Pat Buchanan is the charming David Duke.)

Less charming than Pat Buchanan. Now, that’s gotta hurt.
