Comings and Goings: Hillel’s Firestone at Genesis Prize Foundation and Makovsky at JINSA

Some comings and goings in the Jewish community: Hillel chief Wayne Firestone taking the reins at the Genesis Prize Foundation and Michael Makovsky is the new executive director at JINSA.

NEW YORK (JTA) — Some comings and goings in the Jewish community:

Wayne Firestone was named the president of Genesis Prize Foundation. Firestone has served the past eight years as president and CEO of Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life; he will remain there through April 26. The Genesis foundation will award the Genesis Prize, an annual $1 million recognition to an individual who serves as a role model in his/her community and can inspire the younger generation of Jews worldwide.

Michael Makovsky was named the executive director at the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs. Makovsky during the presidency of George W. Bush was a Pentagon official who dealt with Iraq.

Lenny Ben-David was named the director of communications for NGO Monitor. Ben-David has served as deputy chief of mission in Israel’s embassy in Washington.

Matthew Bogdanoff was named the Florida regional director for the Republican Jewish Coalition. Bogdanoff on behalf of the RJC was involved in the 2012 presidential campaign, and has worked on municipal and state campaigns in Florida.

Masha Girshin was promoted to executive director by The Blue Card, a national non-profit organization dedicated to aiding destitute Holocaust survivors. Girshin has been recognized in the media for her expertise on Holocaust-related issues.
