WASHINGTON (JTA) – Rabbi Samuel Gordon and Maureen Schulman were appointed to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council.
President Obama named Gordon and Schulman, both of Illinois, on Tuesday.
Gordon is the founding rabbi of Congregation Sukkat Shalom in Wilmette, Ill., and is vice president of the Central Conference of American Rabbis. He also is a member of the President’s Advisory Council of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and a senior rabbinic fellow of the Hartman Institute in Jerusalem.
Schulman is the president of her public relations firm and director of public relations for the Eli’s Cheesecake Company. She is board president of the Happiness Club and a director of the Magnificent Mile Charitable Foundation.
