WASHINGTON (JTA) — Jewish groups took officials of U.S. progressive women’s groups on an Israel tour where they met with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.

The eight-day tour, which ended last week, was organized by the Israel Action Network — a joint program of the Jewish Federations of North America and the Jewish Council for Public Affairs — and the National Council of Jewish Women.

Among the 16 participants were representatives from Wheelock College; Girls, Inc.; the Communications Consortium Media Center; the Center for Reproductive Rights; the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund; Out & Equal Workplace Advocates; the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues; Breaking Free; Pratham U.S.A.; the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers; Choice USA; and Change to Win Labor Federation.

The group met with female members of the Knesset and with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and toured areas bordering Israel and the West Bank, as well as the Golan Heights, where they were briefed on how the Syrian conflict might affect Israel.

They also visited projects funded by JFNA and NCJW.
